One of my favorite parts of what I do is that I get to meet some of the most amazing families and build relationships over years of working together. This is one of those families. I first met them for big sister Roma's newborn session and have had the pleasure of photographing their little family of three for the past few years. That was until mama Genalle told me that they were not only expecting a new baby, but were expecting twins! I was so excited to hear this wonderful news!! It came as quite a shock to them, of course, but what a wonderful blessing! I was really excited when she asked me to do the boy's newborn session as they would be my first set of twins to photograph as newborns. To be honest, I was a bit nervous because holy moly, one baby is a ton of work, but to photograph two, I knew it would be exhausting. But it was so much fun!! Roma read books to the babies during their families photos and danced to music that mama put on from some of her favorite shows. After some family photos, we got to work preparing the boys for their posed newborn photos. Genalle was very open to my color choices and set up selections, so it was fun to really play around with wraps and sets. One thing I definitely learned is that while during a newborn session for a single baby, you have to go with the flow, follow their cues, and really focus on what is working for that baby, it is doubly important for a twin session. I went in with certain pose ideas but the boys were not completely comfortable getting into those positions so I readjusted. I figured out that they did best when snuggled up close to each other and when wrapped. Mom and Dad are also big collectors of amazing vintage pieces, so I was happy to bring along one of my vintage quilts that I knew I wanted to incorporate. I really loved how their wrapped images turned out and they look so snuggly and precious together!! All images by Becca Baker Photography
