I had the chance to photograph this sweet family again for their fall family photos. The twins were super active, but the good thing about being flexible when photographing children, is you can just go with the flow! Mom chose a park closer to them, which was a new location for me. There were some beautiful spots around the park, including a fun stone bridge that the kids loved looking over trying to find bridge trolls. I love how create kids are at this age - their imagination is endless! 

The time between milestone sessions passes so quickly, but I find it amazing how much kiddos still change in just a short period of time. Even though I've been photographing this family regularly for the past few years, I still find it so surprising how quickly the girls have grown between sessions! Milestone sessions are the perfect way to capture this growth. From tummy time, new smiles and purposeful eye contact at three months, to sitting and laughing at six months and then cruising, clapping, and playfulness at 9 months, it's so much fun to capture those little developments over the first year. Plus, their little personalities start to develop, and it's so cool to photograph a certain look or mannerism that parents recognize immediately as 'their child.'

We have also started planning her 1st birthday photos which will be a fun celebration! I always find it just as important to celebrate the family during a first birthday session as the child. The family has gone through so much in that first year! They became a family of four, Kali became a big sister for the first time, their pets even had to adjust to having a new person in the house! First birthday photos are a great way to showcase how much the family has grown together over that first year! So, I'm getting excited about celebrating sweet Meira's first birthday with her and her family. It'll be the perfect way to cap off the end of her first year! Plus, there will be cake! :) 

What a beautiful family! I was so excited for this session because I knew we would be meeting in an absolutely gorgeous location in Pittsburgh. They were all so sweet and their excitement for baby brother was obvious. Big sister even brought an adorable blue bear to represent her new brother! We spent the entire session walking around this beautiful garden, exploring spots to take their photos. We even lucked out with rose petals on the ground from a wedding earlier that day! I'm excited for baby to arrive and I can't wait to do their newborn photos!

I met this sweet family last December for their family portrait and I was so excited when mom asked me to do Keira's first birthday session.  Mom had lots of great personal props including a handmade blanket, newborn photo, and an outfit that big sister wore in her own first birthday photos. It was a hot muggy day on the day of her session, but Keira loved moving around the grass. And she had the best reaction to her cake! She just dove right in and loved every bite!!

I absolutely love family sessions! Every family is so different and unique and I really love watching how those differences come out during a session. With this family, mom and dad were both open and willing to goof around with their daughter...even singing songs they came up with just for her! This was also my first time using this location which had a great view of downtown Pittsburgh. I'll definitely be using it again in the future!
