What a beautiful start to this year's fall minis! This year I wanted to do something a little special and I love the idea of cozy couch family photos. So, I found a local company, Old Souls Vintage Rentals, who offer amazing vintage pieces. I thought this would be perfect for my fall mini sessions! I had some really amazing families join me this year for the couch minis and it was a busy but really fun day! We had the most perfect fall weather and the light coming through the trees was just so dreamy!! I hope to use a vintage piece in future photo sessions but for now, check out the families who rocked their vintage couch fall mini sessions!

The best part of doing a 'Belly to Baby' package is that I get to photograph a family both before and after their lives change with the birth of their new baby. Maybe its their first child or they're adding siblings, but its so much fun to capture the anticipation of the new baby and then the immediate love a family has for this sweet new person. During my sessions, I also like to talk to families about their pregnancy, delivery and if there are siblings, how big sister/brother are adjusting. With this family, big sister was so sweet and interested in Kylan during the session. She was even a great assistant, helping me choose colors and wrapping her babies in my wraps! I know she'll be a fantastic, playful big sister for her new baby brother!

In just over a year since meeting this sweet family, I've had the opportunity to photograph them several times. I always love meeting families who you instantly feel comfortable with and look forward to seeing them for their session. This family is definitely in that amazing category. For this session, we met up at Beechwood Farms, which as we arrived, dad Brian remembered going there as a child. So, it was fun walking around and exploring this amazing park that he remembered fondly of from his childhood. After taking family photos, we focused on Riley's first birthday photos and ended with her smash cake. Doing a smash cake is so much fun because you never know how they are going to react. Some kids go face first, others are cautious. Riley was a bit of both; cautious at first but once she got a taste of her beautiful cake, she went all in! Big sister Layla was helping as my assistant in setting up Riley's cake and I think she was hoping for a piece after Riley was finished. These sweet sisters were so much fun to photograph and I look forward to future sessions with this amazing family!

I really love my job! Not only do I get to meet new, awesome families and their amazing children, but I get the opportunity to work with families over several years, giving me the chance to watch their family grow. This is the case with Baby 'C'. I first met his family when I did his big sister's newborn photos over two years ago and have been able to photograph their family several times. I was so excited to learn that mom was pregnant with baby number two and that I would be able to do his newborn photos. Big sister was awake during most of her session and mom was concerned that Baby 'C' would do the same. But he slept really well and we were able to get several set ups done. I loved how involved everyone was in the session. Mom, Dad and sister were all excited to help me choose colors and props for his photos. Mom even had a handmade blanket from her family that she wanted to use, which was similar to a blanket made for big sister's photos. It is so much fun to incorporate these special, sentimental pieces into a family's session. I think it really helps make your photos that much more special and unique!
